About Troy Bush and Nationmade
Troy started his first apparel company in 1989, as an after-school project. With the snowboard apparel industry in it's infancy, he was trying to find waterproof and technical apparel that looked more like streetwear, and the brand Twist was born. Being from Boulder, CO meant learning garment production the hard way, without access to fashion schools. Troy, his brother Trent and best friend Amani, learned all aspects of the business under the pressure of running a fast-growing company.
Twist grew into a leading global brand, and the production evolved as well, initially using cut/sew houses in Denver, then moving to San Francisco and LA, and as the offshoring movement forced the process, finally on to Italy, China, Vietnam, and Thailand.
Troy has acted as Creative Director of Softgoods for Burton Snowboards, managed projects for Nike, Pearl Izumi, Roots, Skullcandy, Obermeyer, and launched multiple brands in partnership with Spyder.
23 years later, he brings all of the contacts, friendships and experience full-circle, refocused on returning garment manufacturing to the USA.
"We have staff all over the country, with factories, fabrics, and support industries ready to help your favorite brand move production back to the USA. Now it is your turn to join the cause. Demand more from your brands, send an email or next time you are in the company store, talk to a salesperson. This starts from the ground up. Demand Nationmade!"
